Maddie + Chace caught a rare warm, sunny day in early October for their Purgatory Resort wedding among the peak fall colors. They traveled in from out of state and included their closest people for a true Colorado micro-wedding with a view of one of Durango’s most iconic peaks. The energy during the day was uniquely calm and loving, with endless smiles and sweet moments between family members adding to the warmth. The couple included little personalized details that made their day feel authentic- like a vinal record guest book, custom Lego reception activity, and pictures of their family members’ weddings printed out. Purgatory Resort was the perfect venue to bask in the autumn sun, explore the golden leaves, and take in the view of Engineer mountain.
When Maddie + Chace first inquired with me, I could immediately feel how important their community is to them. They clearly value spending quality time with friends, family, and their puppies (who were the cutest guests of honor during the wedding day). When we were chatting about what they were looking for in their photography, Maddie told me “I love my pictures, they mean everything to me.” We connected over how special and evocative a single image can be when looking at it later down the road. Throughout their wedding day, they remained fully present, prioritizing connecting with their guests, laughing together, and soaking in the beauty of fall in Southwest Colorado.
Maddie + Chace were such kind, gracious people and were a joy to photograph. They left the sweetest review after their wedding day: “Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect, patient, beautiful, creative human to take capture such a special day for us. She has such a way of making you feel comfortable and in every single picture she captures you can feel every moment! Thank you for making our experience so much easier and not only capturing our love, our puppies, and our friends and family, but just for being you!”
