If you’re currently in the process of planning your wedding in Durango, CO or beyond, there is a fun new vendor in town that could be the perfect addition to your party. Winnie the Photo Bus is a unique take on the wedding photo booth, but instead of the classic backdrop, you get to sit inside of a 1976 VW Vanagon while snapping a few photos. She is the ultimate solution for cocktail-hour entertainment, guest favors, and your guest book. The bus also makes for the cutest retro prop when it comes time for couples photos.
I recently reached out to Winnie’s owners and arranged a styled shoot to show her off and get some good content for them to share. We arranged a little lounge set-up outside of the bus, like it would be stationed at a wedding cocktail hour. Our models put back on their outfits from their own wedding, courtesy of Katerina’s Darling Bridal, and we had a blast playing around with the photo booth and the props that Winnie provides. Inside, she’s equipped with all of the modern tech that traditional photo booths are- lights, a touchscreen monitor, a camera, and a printer that instantly prints those classic 2×6 photo strips.
Aside from being fun for your guests, Winnie is also an adorable prop that adds vintage flair to your couples photos. As a photographer, I felt like there were endless creative opportunities to play around with angles and compositions with Winnie in frame. Our models loved feeling like 70s flower children while they frolicked around the bus, and I think it’s a great solution for feeling awkward in front of the camera. Having a prop or something to actually do together during photos always makes it feel more comfortable and relaxed. Needless to say- make sure to schedule a little bit of time for photos with Winnie if she’s at your wedding!
To compliment the vintage atmosphere that Winnie creates, I shot a roll of black and white 35mm film during our shoot. I love the old-school, grainy vibe that Ilford HP5 brought to the images, and I think Winnie was in her element in front of the lens of my retro manual film camera (also from the 70s).
The owners of Winnie the Photo Bus, Hallie and Fynn, left the sweetest review after we did our shoot together:
“Jordan is just wonderful! We worked with Jordan for a styled shoot for our small business this fall; she was so easy to work with, professional, prepared, artistic, excited and took incredible photos! Plus the added film is such a fun aspect of her craft!! We could not have been more pleased with our whole experience and would recommend her to anyone!”
